From the recording California Countre'
Vanuatu Post - Track ( 17 )
" Vanuatu " is such an inherently fun word to say, the lyrics and melody just flowed out of me. Unfortunately, because of a postal-related delay ( cited on Track [ 16 ]'s info ), by the time I revamped the melody and lyrics, it had been so long, that I had mistakenly
remembered the title name wrong ( ! ) Instead of " Vanuatu ", I was singing " Vanatua " - I actually wrote the verses for Part One after I'd discovered my mistake and then just added " ah's " to " Vanuatu " in Part Two.
I planned on re-recording the screechy guitar parts I ended up with, but once again, chose to manipulate a self-serving justification ; claiming that it gives it a " beachy " kind of sound ; as if the guitar strings have been subjected to a regular onslaught of wind, sand, and the spray of the ocean ( ! ) Anyway, I think, if you're able to muster enough intelligence and tolerability to get past it, they're sort of fun tunes ( that's why I couldn't seem to let myself stop at only one part ).
The final ending was almost as much work as the other parts - Even though it's certainly not perfect, it took a little finesse, for instance, to make it sound as if the barking dog is scarin' away the seagulls, etc.
Anyway, I hope you'll be able to enjoy at least some aspects of these little aquatic wonders : )
