Love for Love ( Somethin' for Nothin' ) - Track ( 2 )
The potential lyrical loopholes in this musical nightmare could be enough to drive a Wordsmith out of his or her mind ! If you start with the fist line : " She told me my Love meant Nuthin' " - It can be interpreted literally - " Love " = Nothing or, if " Love " means " Nothing ", then, logically, " Nothing " means " Love " which, if you'd care to join the wild-eyed Wordsmith and apply this flip-flopped logic randomly throughout the rest of the song : " I told 'er, ' Nuthin' ( Love ) will last forever, Nuthin' ( Love , ) I say ( comma ) is true, Nuthin' ( Love ) could keep us together, and Nuthin' ( Love ) is enough and good for you ' . "
So, then ( as if this wasn't getting more complicated than it's worth ), in the same set of verses : " My Love is Somethin' for Nuthin' ( Love ) - So, now, " Somethin' for Nuthin' ( Love ) ", both literally. Then, if " Somethin' " = Nuthin' ( Love ), then " Nuthin' ( Love ) " = " Somethin' ( Love ) "...
So, again, if you were to sporadically ( or even methodically ) switch, back and forth, all of the possibilities of these double-meanings, well, you can see how ridiculous it could get ( or " is " ) ; cynical overtones on top of positive undertones, but, what the hell, it's all done in the name of...Nuthin' : )
