From the recording Rock and stroll
TRACK ( 3 ) “ Rock ‘n’ Roll forgot “ - Originally, this was recorded in a Professional Studio, but since I hadn’t written any accompanying music for it at the time, I just sang it A Cappella ( Single Vocal Only - No Instruments ) I came up with the basic Guitar progression just days before recording the more recent version and then layered the Vocals in an attempt to compensate for the resultant imperfections
One of my favorite parts comes after the Second Chorus, as it goes into the First Break : Initially, it sounds as if things are gonna speed up, but then it slides back down into its regular, slower tempo
Usually, with my attempts to play Lead Guitar, I simply Improvise and keep things Raw and Instinctual ( that’s why I’m an Amateur ) ; however, on this particular Song, I played over the Second Break a number of times, picked out the notes and Intervals that caught my ear, and then pieced them together into the Finished Product
More recently, I imagined Bob Seger, Paul Rodgers, or The Incredible Chris Cornell ( R.I.R. - Rest In ROCK or Live Forever in the Chronicles of Music’s Finest ) . . . well . . . I imagined one of them singin’ this . . . I’m pretty sure that would make it one of my Favorite Songs of All Time : )
